Beat Magazine has announced that all users of their free BeatFirst app for Android and iOS can download the excellent U-He Beatzille virtual modular synthesizer for free until December 19th!
Beatzille is a lighter (in terms of available features), but still totally awesome version of the Bazille synthesizer by U-He. Compared to the full version of the plugin, Beatzille features less oscillators (two instead of four), less filters, LFOs and envelope generators (one of each), less effects (only the delay effect is included), reduced polyphony and the lack of multi-core CPU support. On the other hand, it is still an incredibly versatile virtual instrument with a great sounding filter, excellent oscillators, and all the modular patching fun you could ask for! The synth is compatible all VST/AU/AAX plugin hosts (both 32-bit and 64-bit) on Windows, Mac OS and even Linux!
Beatzille is normally distributed on the cover DVD of Beat Magazine, which means that you need to purchase an issue in order to get the free plugin. For the next three days, everyone can download the plugin for free, so long as they also install the free BeatFirst app on their Android or iOS device and register for a free Studiodrive user account.
Here’s how to grab your free copy of Beatzille:
- Install the BeatFirst app to your Android or iOS device (pictured below).
- Launch the app and go into settings (upper-right corner of the screen).
- Register a Studiodrive user account (you can set the language to English in the registration form).
- Confirm your email address.
- Return to the first screen in BeatFirst and click the image on top (it has 72h Beatzille written on it).
- Check your email, download and install the plugin.
- Feed your pet(s) and fire up your DAW.
- You’re all set! :)
If you’re not too happy about installing an additional app on your mobile device, it’s worth noting that BeatFirst is actually a pretty cool little tool to help you stay informed about the latest news regarding free and paid music making software and soundware. By default, you can automatically follow websites like Beat Magazine, Sound On Sound, Rekkerd, and even BPB! Simply launch the app and you’ll see all the latest headlines and news. You can also add additional news sources if you want.
Download
To download U-He Beatzille for free, install the free BeatFirst app on your mobile device and follow the instructions as explained above (51.8 MB download size, ZIP archive, 32-bit & 64-bit VSTi/AUi/AAX plugin format for Windows, Mac OS & Linux).
UPDATE: The offer has now expired.

onMy “mobile device” is a Nokia 8210, so I’m out.
Tomislav Zlatic
onWell, that sucks. :(
Todd Martin
onTotal disapointment man! There is no big OK button!!!
I try to do all the steps with iPhone 5s and nothing!!!
I repeat so many times the steps and still nothing.
From the app to the web and from the web to the app, there still no OK button!!!
Big, big, big disapointment!
I have to quit now, because i’m afraid that i’m gonna broke my phone, because of your stupit promotion that is not useful.
Big thanks guys! :(
Tomislav Zlatic
onWhat happens when you press the image on the top of the home screen? Also, did you check the spam folder in your mail account?
VP Teittinen
onWell it doesn’t work for me. What ever I use as a user name I always get an error trying to log in.
Tomislav Zlatic
onDid you register a user account (through the settings screen) and confirm your email?
Juuso L
onI had the same problem when my password had special symbols like “:” so I logged in through a web browser and changed the password so it only consisted of letter and numbers and it worked. :)
Tomislav Zlatic
onThanks for the tip Juuso!
Beik
onGood free synth this BEDZille ;)

onNo chance with to take part with a Windows Phone?
Tomislav Zlatic
onSorry, I double checked with the developer and there is no Windows Phone version, nor is it planned.
Suganthan Harmless
onEven the app itself seems useful. Thanks U-he!

onThe app sucks big time, after many reboots on my phone, i had to use my gf one, then i saw “undefined” all over the web. I couldn’t login at first, and now when i press the Bazille image, i just get a dialog that says just “OK”.
-_-
I will try a few times more, i want that synth.
As usual, thanks for the heads-up, mate.
Irion Da Ronin
onOk, i got 13 e-mails in my mailbox, so i guess these are the times i pressed “OK” to get the synth.
Downloaded.
Thanks.
Tomislav Zlatic
onYeah, that last part (the huge OK pop-up with nothing else around it) could be a bit more descriptive.
Todd Martin
onAll the spteps done, but nothing in my email?!?
Tomislav Zlatic
onHave you checked your spam folder? If you did (and nothing’s there), perhaps give it a go with a different email?
Tomislav Zlatic
onYes, you install the BeatFirst app on your phone or tablet and then use it to download Beatzille for your Windows, Mac or Lunux based DAW.

onYou must’ve meant this to raise awareness of your app, but it’s so shoddy I immediately uninstalled it. It’s simply not really for the limelight.

onIf you don’t have an Android/iOS phone you could try something like AmiDuOS (Android emulator for Windows).

onTHANKS!!
Truth
onYou don’t really need Android to get it.

However, it’s not worth it. Single core only and many filters disabled… who does that?
SOLIVER
onDownloaded and installed on my MAC. But it doesn’t appear neither at ‘Applications’ nor somewhere else. Am i doing something wrong?
MattBusta
onI have this app already..when I saw this post I was like “oh yeah, why don’t I ever use this app?” then was reminded that unless I run it in Deutsch, my phone hangs and has to be hard reset… It’s a pity cause I’d love to try this out

onDownloaded yesterday to my son’s Android tablet (Acer Iconia Tab8 or something), followed the instructions and received my download mail within a minute! Was only able to test it for a short time but I think it’s safe to say that Beatzille sounds simply AMAZING! I actually got stuck with the 2nd factory preset (forgot the name now), holding 1 key and turning the cutoff knob – my ears were in heaven. :D Thanks Tomislav (and Beat + U-he of course), you really are doing great job with this site, I would have missed it otherwise.
skrippy
onthe app sucks totally, cannot complete the procedure because it crashes my tablet ALL THE BLOODY TIMES.
btw, np, i’ll do without :P
ryan
onwhat do I put in the “Subscr. no” section of the registration form?
mr.booze
onLeave subscription stuff blank (unless you do have a Beat mag sub..)
For me it is also not working. Tried 2 accounts, on phone and even with that android on windows thing someone mentioned above. But when i log in the app freezes :(
Ameyah
oni dont have a smartphone, any other way to get a copy? :(
Marcus Rasseli
onDon’t know if it’s a big deal. U-he makes amazing software but Beatzille doesn’t have multi-core support and high quality mode neither. I face Beatzille as a demo from Bazille that of course is a great soft-synth.
Bot
onHappy camper here. Thank you Tomislav. And thank you for everything else!
Fairus Dellant
onLots of respect for u-he and crew, but this promotion was a complete failure for me. iPhone 6s, and I’ve used BeatFirst on it many times. The StudioDrive registration isn’t something I’ve tried before, so maybe this feature is new and not-quite debugged.
With all the holiday giveaways, freeware recaps and sales this time of year, there’s plenty to get lost in, this is best forgotten for another day.
Thanks Tomislav for giving us the heads-up all the same!
Dakota Rocke
onSo glad I came across this, for how stripped down it is, it really is surprisingly versatile. Definitely grab this while you can guys!
Najib
onThanks.. I get the copy…
hris
onYour app doesnt’t work. After login I can’t go anywhere trying with back button and tapping “X” btw. not a single control works after login.
I’m on Android 4,3
Btw. thanks for this opportunity to waste my time with buggy apps.
Rob van den Berg
onYou do know that the app isn’t made by BPB, do you.
Still a buggy app though.
Deleted it once I got the download :-)

onIf you still want Beatzille, you can still get it here from The Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine: https://web.archive.org/web/20161019182835/https://www.zampler.de/upload/20k_Beatzille.zip . This download link was archived and it contains the wonderful Beatzille in 32-/64-bit VST, AU and AAX formats. The download link still works. Enjoy! =)
