My sound design label 99Sounds has released The Weird Side Samples, a free collection of glitch samples and abstract sound effects designed by Johan Ekelove aka Introspectral.
This sound library is the first release in the Artist Series product line, which will feature free sample packs created by talented producers and sound designers from different places around the globe. Several new packs are scheduled for release in the upcoming weeks, so stay tuned and keep a close eye on the 99Sounds homepage.
Johan’s free sample library is based on a collection from his new album The Weird Side Of The Mundane. He used various bits and pieces from his album to create this unique sound library, packed with exciting glitched out sounds, processed vocals and weird sonic movements. By the way, you should definitely take a listen to the whole album if you’re a fan of experimental sound design. It features tons of totally weird sounds while still having this nice groovy vibe.
Back to the sound library, the included samples are available in 24-bit WAV format and they’re sorted into six different folders for easy browsing. Also, all included sounds are available for both commercial and non-commercial use.
My favorite part of The Weird Side Samples collection are the sounds from the percussive elements folder, which work absolutely brilliant for adding a glitchy character to percussive loops and drum sequences. The processed vocals are also top notch and I’m sure that you’ll enjoy all the other sounds in the library, too.
I hope you’ll have fun with this release and I’d also like to thank Introspectral for publishing his fantastic samples for free on 99Sounds!
